Sen-Peng Chen is an independent ceramic artist who specialises in Shino ware.
Upholding a passion for handcrafted artistry, he combines the tactile traces of manual labor with glaze texture to naturally evoke a poetic aesthetic. He has achieved exceptional mastery in both Shino-style pottery and the traditional craft of Chaozhou wheel-thrown teapot.
He believes that small vessels embody great elegance natural spontaneity conveying their simple yet profound beauty in his creations.
His work is widely recognised as one of the pinnacles of contemporary Shino pottery from across the country. The signature series Cliff Snow has entered numerous national, provincial, and municipal competitions, achieving remarkable results. It has pioneered and led the current aesthetics in Shino ware.
He is a National-Level Craftsman, a Chaozhou Master of Arts and Crafts, and a member and councillor of the Guangdong Arts and Crafts Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Design from Jingdezhen Ceramic University.
