Profile

Kazuhito Yamamoto has been a ceramic artist for over 25 years, and his pottery is renowned for its unique character and artistic design. His work stands apart with both whimsy and strength, as well as having mastered an astonishing array of glazes and styles.

Oribe, Lapis Lzazuli Blue and rich Blacks are signatures to his work. Polka dots and stripes coexist alongside deliberate carving and robust forms. It's hard to believe such contrasting works come from one same person.

He loves making things with his own hands; even the kerosene kiln he uses today was built by him.

Now, in his own studio, Kazuhito Yamamoto does more than just make pottery; he keeps bees and plays with goats from time to time, living a life in harmony with nature whilst creating his ceramics.

Constantly experimenting with different glazes and techniques, Yamamoto Kazuhito’s pottery is popular among the Japanese for its earthy vitality and playful spirit.

Perhaps it is because, when one holds his work, the power of nature can be transmitted into our hands.
